 m</p>\n<p>Katy Tanis is a children's book author\, illustrator\, and explo
 rer. Her award-winning artwork has been seen on products and in art shows 
 around the world. Katy grew up in Northern NJ\, where she spent most of he
 r days exploring imagined jungles with her three siblings. Her father&rsqu
 o\;s hardware store provided endless supplies for her creative pursuits. S
 he now lives and works at the Jersey Shore. She has an M.A. in Biology fro
 m Miami University\, a B.S. in Computer Science and a B.F.A. in Art from C
 arnegie Mellon University.&nbsp\;Her career began in the fashion industry\
 , traveling around the world to meet artisans and learn about their crafts
 &mdash\;woodblock printing in Kyoto\, graffiti in Berlin\, ceramics in Kwa
 Zulu-Natal\, Kantha embroidery in Bangalore\, and more. All of these exper
 iences help to inform her work.</p>\n<p>Katy highlights unusual and lesser
 -known animals and explores evolution and biogeography concepts in her wor
 k. She frequently travels around the globe to immerse herself in new ecosy
 stems\, like Madagascar&rsquo\;s spiny forest and Borneo&rsquo\;s tropical
  forest.&nbsp\;She has a soft spot for the weirdos of the animal kingdom a
