In 1969\, America experienced one of its m ost extraordinary summers. In addition to the ongoing unrest revolving aro und the Viet Nam War and Civil Rights\, three pivotal milestones occurred: The Stonewall Riots\, which marked the beginning of the modern LGBTQ era\ ; the Apollo moon landing\, which became the crowning achievement of a dec ade-long &ldquo\;Space Race&rdquo\;\; and Woodstock\, probably the single most important cultural event of the era. Join us as we relive the season that changed the face of America forever.
\nPresented by Dr. Bill Th ierfelder\, a retired college professor who taught a variety of arts and h umanities courses for 32 years at several New York universities and colleg es\, including St. John's University and Dowling College. He holds a Ph.D. in English\, with minors in theater\, art history and music history. He h as also served as a \;docent at the American Museum of Natural History .
