"Freedom Denied: \;NJ&rsquo\;s Enslave d People and The American Revolution" explores the agency and determinatio n of enslaved people in colonial New Jersey. \;Their actions and persp ectives mirrored the colonists&rsquo\; call for liberty and freedom. The p rogram examines these shared ideals and the counter-factors which denied e nslaved people their freedom \;at the conclusion of The American Revol utionary War.

\nDavie-Lyn Jones-E vans is an elementary school teacher and a local historian. She holds a Ba chelor of Arts in History and American Studies from Douglass College\, Rut gers University\, and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Seton Hall University. \;Jones-Evans&rsquo\;s \;At Home with History&nbs p\;blog received the 2024 \;Somerset County Historic Preservation and History Publication Award for its preservation of \;African American h istory in Somerville\, NJ. She is currently a community workshop co-presen ter of \;What Happened to Lucy&rsquo\;s Son? A Guide to Doing Archival Research\, serves on the Ubuntu Cultural Pavilion\, Inc. Board and the Ne w Cemetery Board. \;
