 ling\, atmosphere or landscape\, it's often useful to take the reader's mi
 nd elsewhere by creating word pictures and metaphor. With examples from li
 terature\, we&rsquo\;ll learn to enrich our metaphors and notice the diffe

 >\n<p>Dani Nichols is an award-winning children&rsquo\;s book author (<em>
 Buzz the Not-So-Brave</em>\, pub. July 2023)\, Substack author and freelan
 ce essayist with pieces published in 20+ publications. She also works as a
  coach and editor to help writers sharpen their work and get published\, a
 nd teaches writing classes at COCC.</p>\n<p><strong>Central Oregon Writers
  Guild's</strong> mission is to provide Central Oregon area writers a foru
 m for mutual support and education through meetings\, annual events and wo
 rkshops. Our goal is to advance growth and success for individual writers 
 of all genres and skill levels. Founded in 2002\, the Guild is a non-profi
 t organization\, run entirely by volunteers.<br /><br />Guild meetings tak
 e place on a monthly basis\, where we feature guest speakers\, panels\, me
