From its origins in England to its present globa l popularity\, Dr. John F. Lyons discusses the \;history of football/f ú\;tbol/soccer through the use of movie clips\, photos\, and newspap er reports from around the world. He traces the history of the World Cup\, examines the reasons behind the slow growth of the game in the United Sta tes\, and looks at the surge of interest in the women&rsquo\;s game in rec ent years.
