The history of Chicago&rsquo\;s Chinatown stems from the complex story of Chinese immigration in the 19th \;cent ury. Come learn about stories rich with immigration legal difficulties\, C hinese food history\, illicit opium and gambling activities\, and unconven tional family ties. The history of Chinatown embodies all these dramatic e lements and more. Educator Yvonne Wolf will give a brief history of how Ch inese immigrants were impelled to leave China in the mid-1800s\, how they skirted around the Chinese Exclusion Act after 1882\, and what they contri buted to the greater American cultural history. \;
