  climate.</p>\n<p>Prepping a lawn in Maryland focuses on building healthy 
 soil and using best management&nbsp\;practices for cool-season grasses\, w
 ith an emphasis on protecting the Chesapeake Bay by&nbsp\;reducing fertili
 zer runoff. Key actions include soil testing\, aerating compacted clay\, o
 verseeding with turf-type tall fescue in early fall (Aug 20&ndash\;Oct 15)
 \, and maintaining high mowing heights.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>About Eri
 c Wenger</strong></p>\n<p>Eric Wenger has &ldquo\;lived&rdquo\; in the wor
 ld of lawn care and landscaping in Maryland and the DC metro area since 19
 80. His career includes work with a nationally known lawn care firm\, a re
 gional lawn care company\, a local golf course\, an irrigation firm and hi
 s own businesses\, Complete Lawn Care\, Inc. and Complete Plant Health Car
 e\, Inc. In 1996\, Eric became a Montgomery County Master Gardener. He rem
 ains an active Montgomery County Master Gardener and continues to particip
 ate in Master Gardener activities and their speaker&rsquo\;s group. He oft
 en speaks on the topics of IPM\, lawn care\, plant care\, deer\, pruning a
 nd&nbsp\;gardening and other lawn care topics and has lectured at Montgome
 ry College Environmental Horticulture Program and for Montgomery College&r
 squo\;s Continuing Education Program.</p>\n<p><strong>Questions about this
