\nBefore you come: Walk your ow n property\, take some pictures\, make some sketches\, and list the types of trees\, shrubs\, and other plants that your land currently supports. Yo u might consider what your neighbours are growing as well.

\nLaura Thomas is a conservation-dr iven landscape professional\, native plant grower\, and advocate for ecolo gical restoration in Ontario. A graduate of the University of Waterloo&rsq uo\;s Environment and Resource Studies program\, Laura brings more than fi fteen years of experience in the landscape and restoration sector\, workin g at the intersection of ecological function and thoughtful design. Her wo rk demonstrates that beautiful landscapes and healthy ecosystems are not m utually exclusive\, but inherently connected.
