 lley created the Elgin Police Department Cold Case Unit to review cold cas
 es in the City of Elgin. Detective Andrew Houghton and Sergeant Matt Varta
 nian were the first members of that unit and\, at her direction\, launched
  a podcast called <a href="https://elgincoldcases.com/podcast/"><em>Somebo
 dy Knows Something: The Elgin Police Cold Case Podcast</em></a>&nbsp\;whic
 h takes listeners along with actual cold case detectives in the City of El
 gin as they investigate real cold cases from their agency. Detective Hough
 ton and Hall will discuss the unique challenges of working cold cases and 
 the use of podcasting as a new medium to generate community interest and t
 ips in cold case homicides and missing person cases in a manner that keeps
  the victims at the center of the story and avoids sensationalizing these 
 tragic incidents.</p>\n<p>The podcast is currently listed in the top 1% of
  all podcasts globally and has have over 300k downloads to date. As of Aug
 ust 2026\, the podcast has released 3 seasons focusing on missing persons 
 cases and homicides from the 1970s and 1980s and generated over 75 tips fo
 r area cold cases. Detective Chris Hall joined the unit in 2025 and a 3rd&
