reflect the person's attempt to communicate when words\, memory\, or reaso
ning are no longer reliable. These changes can include agitation\, restles
sness\, confusion\, withdrawal\, or sudden shifts in mood. They are not in
tentional&mdash\;they are signals that the person may be overwhelmed\, unc
omfortable\, afraid\, or unable to express a need. Understanding this help
s care partners respond with patience and empathy. Supportive approaches s
uch as simplifying the environment\, maintaining predictable routines\, us
ing calm communication\, and offering meaningful activities can reduce dis
tress and improve daily life. By recognizing the meaning behind behaviour
and responding gently\, families can create a safer\, more reassuring envi
ronment for the person living with dementia.</p>\n<p>Emily Giasson is an E

mentia. In her role\, she is committed to empowering individuals and commu
