 ster Gardener in 2017 after she retired from the National Institutes of He
 alth.&nbsp\; She is delighted to spend more time on some of her major inte
 rests such as storm water management\, the ecology of gardens\, and climat
 e change. In addition to being a member of the MG Speakers Bureau\,&nbsp\;
 Irene&nbsp\;served as the editor of the MG newsletter\,&nbsp\;The Seed\, f
 or four years and still writes a column on science news. On Tuesday mornin
 gs\, you can find her working with the Montgomery County Fairgrounds Demon
 stration Garden team.&nbsp\; She shares her home with her husband\, a daug
