 ut the Instructor:&nbsp\;</strong></p>\n<p>Risa Swanson received her BFA i
 n Painting from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She worked for 
 many years in graphic design\, beginning in magazine layout and later in c
 orporate advertising\, where she advanced from graphic artist to art direc
 tor.</p>\n<p>She has taught drawing\, painting\, and linoleum block printi
 ng in private schools and in her own studio. Her work includes painting\, 
 drawing\, and ceramics\, with a focus on thoughtful design and composition
 . Her ceramics are primarily functional\, reflecting her interest in creat
