This workshop will focus on the beauty\, d esign and function of patterns\, forms and structures found in the natural world\, as well as in design and art. \; Natural specimens and images are shared to explore growth patterns such as branching\, spiral/Fibonacc i\, and symmetry in nature. Cross-disciplinary concepts between art\, desi gn\, science\, and math are discussed. \;Participants will observe an d sketch from examples and create botanical prints inspired by this scruti ny. \;
\nKaren Fuchs is a teaching artist and designer with a ba ckground in textile design and interior architecture. She has taught these art and nature workshops and led professional development talks at the&nb sp\;MOMA\, \;Parsons School of Design\, MAD Museum\, Pratt\, New York Botanical Gardens\, NAEA Conference\, Montclair Art Museum\, Young Audienc es \;and the \;NJ Audubon \;where she had a solo exhibit of my work. Her audiences have always been diverse\, encompassing a wide range of backgrounds and ages\, from kids to lifelong learners. Her own work inc ludes cyanotypes\, printmaking\, drawing\, textiles\, collage and assembla ge.
