This year marks the 30th anniversary of th e installation of Berkeley&rsquo\;s Fountain at The Circle and the restora tion of Fountain Walk in Northbrae. To celebrate this milestone\, the libr ary will host a monthlong exhibit and a public lecture on \;the histor y of these beloved city landmarks.
\nThe exhibit is scheduled to ope n Monday\, July 6\, and be on view through Saturday\, August 1. It will te ll the stories of both the 1996 fountain\, the result of an effort led by Northbrae neighbors\, and its predecessor from 1911\, which was destroyed in a crash in the late1950s. It will feature original photos\, drawings\, documents and more\, including a full-scale plaster model of one of the fo untain&rsquo\;s signature grizzly bear cubs. These items can be seen in th e library&rsquo\;s main display case facing Kittredge Street\, and in tabl etop display cases on \;the second floor.
\nThe public presentat ion will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday\, July 18\, in the Mystery Room on the library&rsquo\;s second floor. Both the display and the talk are f ree and open to the public.
