\nShannon Sharpe i s a mycologist with an MS in Ecology &\; Evolutionary Biology from the University of North Florida. She's studied fungi for more than 15 years. A s lead mycologist at Harmony Mushroom Co.\, she hosts local guided ecotour s and educational events on mycology\, sharing the wonders of fungi with n aturalists from across the country. Shannon collaborates with the UNF on f ungal research and travels year-round to mushroom and mycology gatherings& mdash\;from regional meetups to national conferences&mdash\;both as a spea ker and participant. She makes annual forays into the Appalachians and Cas cades\, and finds her greatest pleasure in cataloging fungal diversity and observing forest ecology. \;
\nAbout Secrets of the For est: Can forests help cool the planet? Follow scientists working in spectacular forest landscapes in Costa Rica\, Brazil\, Australia\, and beyond as they try to untangle complex networks of trees\, fungi\, and cre atures large and small--all in a quest to tackle the twin threats of clima te change and species extinction.
