Join us on the first Tuesday of the month for our Master Gardener series\, presented by U of M Extension Becker Coun ty Master Gardeners. Master Gardeners are University of Minnesota-trained volunteers whose mission is to educate the public about a variety of horti culture subjects using readily-available\, up-to-date research-based infor mation. The Master Gardener Program educational effort is designed to enha nce the public&rsquo\;s quality of life and to promote good stewardship of the environment.

\nSeptember's presentation will fo cus on companion planting. Do carrots really love tomatoes? Do marigolds r eally repel insect pests? Although many of the suggestions that have been widely publicized are no more than folklore\, some benefits have been born e out by research. Planting certain plants near each other can offer benef it\, while other combinations are like the Hatfields and the McCoys (shoul d never be near each other). Presenter: DMae Ceryes
