Almost 100\,000 Jews arrived in the U.S. f rom Nazi Germany and Austria in the 1930s\, before the outbreak of World W ar II. Aided by American Jewish organizations\, most of these refugees set tled in New York. But\, with help from local Jewish groups and individuals \, more than 3\,000 found refuge in Baltimore. This presentation discusses the experience of Jews who fled the Nazi regime and rebuilt their lives i n Baltimore. It is based on interviews conducted in the early 2000s with p eople who arrived as children and soon became \;part of the Baltimore Jewish community.
