At this special edition our monthly progra m\, we'll discuss this year's One Read selection\, "Remarkably Bright Creatur es\," with Dr. Morgan Murphy\, avid reader and assistant teaching prof essor of veterinary anesthesiology and analgesia at the University of Miss ouri who has worked with octopuses!
\nDr. Murphy earned her undergra duate degree in mathematics from Kansas State University\, where she also completed her doctorate in veterinary medicine. Following graduation\, she completed a small animal rotating internship at Oklahoma State University and a specialized surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialist s in Houston\, Texas. She then returned to Kansas State University for a r esidency in anesthesia and analgesia. Prior to joining the Mizzou faculty in September 2024\, she served four years at Iowa State University and two years at Kansas State University as faculty. Outside of her clinical and teaching responsibilities\, Dr. Murphy enjoys running and reading\, spendi ng time with her daughter\, Everest\, their dog\, Marla Pickles\, and thei r three cats.
