With names like Giant Puffball\, Chicken o f the Woods\, and Dead Man&rsquo\;s Fingers\, fungi are often considered o dd and misunderstood organisms. While Kingdom Fungi includes yeasts\, mold s\, and mildews\, as well as mushrooms\, in this program we&rsquo\;ll focu s on exploring the types of mushrooms native to Kane County. After an over view of the life cycle\, the anatomy\, and the ecological importance of fu ngi\, Barb McKittrick\, Environmental Education Manager at the Forest Pres erve District of Kane County\, will explain how to identify local mushroom s and showcase a few of the species that make their home in our region.
