English Conversation Group is for anyone f rom any language or cultural background who wants to practice speaking (an d listening to) English in a welcoming\, social space. This month\, Sylvan Oaks is welcoming our friends from Carmichael Library while their branch is closed for maintenance!
\nBeing comfortable and confident with so cial\, informal conversation is important even in more formal environments \, such as at work or college. This is how you make positive connections w ith others\, that can help you later\, and how you make friends. Improve y our confidence and fluency in English\, while learning about American life and other cultures\, and make community connections. Different topics and activities\, often using pictures\, will be used each time to keep the gr oup interesting and interactive\, for any level.
\nNote: This is not a &ldquo\;class&rdquo\; in the traditional sense. The facilitator is not a teacher\, and there is limited direct grammar instruction\, if any\, wit h more of a focus on vocabulary and actually speaking. Other resources or referrals may be provided as needed or requested. This is a space for part icipants to learn by doing\, by spending their time talking! The facilitat or may or may not be bilingual.
