Summer was a season of adventure for every American Girl Historical Character. Join Blake Changnon and The Changnon Family Museum of Toys and Collectibles as we explore the beloved Saves the Day stories of the first seven Historical Characters.
\nTh is mini-museum brings to life the fifth book in each character's six-book journey\, where long summer days led to exciting adventures\, new discover ies\, and unforgettable acts of courage. Through rare and original artifac ts from the museum's collection\, visitors will discover how each girl ste pped beyond the familiar\, faced her fears\, and grew through experiences that shaped her confidence and character.
\nWhether traveling to a n ew place\, exploring the outdoors\, helping family and friends\, or meetin g people whose lives were different from their own\, each Historical Chara cter discovered that bravery comes from perseverance\, compassion\, and do ing what is right when it matters most. In the end\, each found her own wa y to "save the day."
\nThis exhibit is hands-off to help preserve th ese rare\, one-of-a-kind items from the museum's collection. Visitors of a ll ages are welcome\, as long as museum etiquette is observed\; however\, we recommend this experience for ages nine and up.
\nCome discover t he adventures\, friendships\, and courageous moments that made the Sav es the Day stories unforgettable\, and see how ordinary girls found t he courage to make an extraordinary difference.
\nThis exhibit is in dependently curated and is not affiliated with or endorsed by American Gir l or Mattel.
\nRegistration is required for this ev ent\, and will open on September 20\, 2026. Registrants will have the oppo rtunity to view the collection and walk through the exhibit. Groups will b e contacted prior to the event with an assigned fifteen minute time slot t o walk through the collection. Requests as to timeslots will be honored wh en possible\, but are not guaranteed. Same day walk-ins will be permitted as time and space allows. As part of County Government\, MCPL does not col lect personal information other than for the purpose of providing programs or services.
