 ;t&rdquo\; is Persian for &ldquo\;quatrain\,&rdquo\; a poetic stanza of fo
 ur lines. This work is a compilation of 101 of these stanzas\, as translat
 ed by the English man of letters Edward FitzGerald\, and contains the immo
 rtal words: &ldquo\;The moving finger writes\, and having writ/Moves on: N
 or all thy piety nor wit/Shall lure it back to cancel half a line.&rdquo\;
