\nNew York Times \;bestselling author \;Margaret Peterson Haddix< /a> \;will present an interactive writing workshop for children ages 8 -12 at the Delaware County District Library: Liberty Branch on Saturday\, September 19.
\nThis ticketed event will take place from 1pm to 4pm. To allow time for more personalized feedback from the author for each chi ld\, enrollment in the workshop will be capped at 25 attendees.
\nDu ring the session\, Haddix will lead the young writers in discussions and e xercises related to plot\, character\, and setting\, as well as helping th em brainstorm about stories they want to create. Part of the time will als o be dedicated to at least beginning to write those stories. Bound (blank) books will be provided for the young writers to use.
\nAlong with t he workshop\, Haddix will talk about her own journey to becoming the autho r of more than 50 traditionally published books for kids and teens. Her wo rks include the Shadow Children ser ies\, the Missing series\, the Greystone Secret series\, and many stand-alones. Her books have won multiple state readers&rsquo\; choice awa rds and the Edgar Award for Juvenile Mysteries and have been translated in to more than 20 languages. Some of her books will be available for purchas e from Beanbag Books\, and Haddix will be available to sign books for read ers during her time at the library.
