Join IndigiQueer \;artist Eileen Jimen ez (Ñ\;ä\;tho) as they lead this workshop\, where participants w ill create \;corazones \;sagrados \;(sacred hearts) using simp le tools\, texture\, and rich colors to learn the traditional art of Mexic an tin embossing. We will explore the cultural significance of the sacred heart\, often offered as a gesture of gratitude\, protection\, or an expre ssion of deep emotional connection. \; \; \;
\nEileen us es \;printmaking and \;mixed-media techniques to develop her own w ays of telling stories in the complex layers that they exist in\, as well as to \;demonstrate \;the ways that we are connected to the Land a nd to each other. In her current body of work\, she focuses on the embodim ent of the divine that is manifested through our bodies and our hands spec ifically. In her work\, you will also see her commitment to centering the stories of joy that flow through our communities. \; \;
\nEi leen's mother is Maria Cruz\, her grandmother is Eloisa\, and her great gr andmother is Ysidora\, matriarchs of the \;Ñ\;ä\;tho \;( Otomi Peoples of Michoacan/Guanajuato\, Mexico). As an \;IndigiQueer&n bsp\;leader\, community member\, educator and as an artist\, everything sh e does and creates is influenced by her many intersecting identities and l ived experiences.
