On the morning of December 26\, 1996\, Pat sy Ramsey\, mother to JonBenet\, calls the police to report her 6-year-old daughter missing and a ransom note demanding $118\,000 for her return. Po lice and friends of the family come to the home\, but only JonBenet's bedr oom is sealed off and treated as a crime scene. At approximately 1pm\, upo n recommendation by police\, John Ramsey\, JonBenet's father\, and a frien d discovered her body in the basement partially under a blanket with duct tape over her mouth and a cord around her neck and wrists.
\nUnaware of the forensic evidence he could be contaminating\, John picks up the li feless body of his daughter and carries her upstairs. The official autopsy report lists her cause of death as asphyxia by strangulation in combinati on with craniocerebral trauma. Her death was classified as a homicide.&nbs p\;
\nHer case immediately gained nationwide attention due to her fa mily's wealth\, her participation in child beauty pageants\, the perplexin g ransom note\, the early contamination of the crime scene and the suspici on surrounding the involvement of one or both of her parents. Thirty years later\, the case still remains unsolved.
\nWe will explore and exam ine the intruder theory and the theory that members of her family were inv olved in her untimely death.
