X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Children struggle to solve problems becaus
e they lack underlying developmental skills such as impulse control\, flex
 ible thinking\, perspective taking\, language\, emotional regulation\, or
executive functioning. We need to distinguish between 'won't' and 'can't'
and coach the missing skill.</p>\n<p>By the end of this course\, you'll kn
ow how to turn everyday conflicts into opportunities that build your child
 's confidence\, character\, and problem-solving skills&mdash\;so you can s
tep back as your child steps up. Register <a href="https://docs.google.com

ored by Pathways for Parents. Pathways for Parents is funded by the Coordi
nated Family and Community Engagement Grant through the Massachusetts Depa
rtment of Early Education and Care.</p>\n<p>About the Facilitator:&nbsp\;P
eggy Hoime<br /><br />With a background in Elementary and Special Educatio
n\, Peggy spent many years working with children who were labeled as havin
g an inability to learn and function in a regular classroom.&nbsp\;Because
of her labels\, she was allowed to go to college on a disability grant an
d was accepted on probation.&nbsp\;After graduating from college\, she has
spent over 40 years telling young people to not let anyone tell them that
they cannot learn or achieve what they desire in life.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Bec
ause of the amazing results she had with children thought to be behind in
their emotional and educational abilities\, Peggy was asked to speak at te
achers' conventions and Parent &amp\;Teacher Associations on how to motiva
te children\, not only to learn\, but to excel without being put on medica
tion.</p>\n<p>After moving East\, Peggy enrolled in Education with Insight
through the Fitzgerald Institute and became a Master Trainer.&nbsp\;She d
oes parent coaching as well as teacher trainings. As a parenting and famil
y coach\, she works with parents helping them to understand who their chil
 d is.&nbsp\;She uses the research-based DISC Assessment.&nbsp\;Once parent
s understand the temperament of their child\, Peggy works with them on how
to communicate\, motivate\, and discipline their child in a way that crea
tes an environment where the child can flourish and become the best versio
 n of who he/she is.</p>\n<p>As a trainer of teachers and caregivers\, she
works with professionals in helping them to understand how to meet the uni
que needs of the children in their classroom by understanding different te
mperaments and learning how to communicate\, teach and motivate their stud
ents according to their temperament style.&nbsp\;The result is that enviro
nments are created where each child feels emotionally safe\, honored and s
upported so he/she can thrive and grow socially\, emotionally and cognitiv
 ely.</p>\nhttps://wilbraham.libnet.info/event/17224941
