X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Learn how to recognize and respond to the
early signs of dyslexia in this informative session with Sheri James. With
dyslexia affecting up to 20% of the population\, understanding its charac
teristics and knowing how to respond can help parents and educators better
support struggling readers.</p>\n<p>This program will explore what dyslex
ia is&mdash\;and what it isn't&mdash\;including common red flags that may
appear as early as infancy and what steps to take when concerns arise. Par
ticipants will also learn about the key elements of a strong\, comprehensi
ve reading program and strategies for supporting children with dyslexia.</
p>\n<p>Early literacy skills begin developing long before children enter k
indergarten. This program complements the Library's early literacy efforts
\, including 1\,000 Books Before Kindergarten\, by helping families and ed
ucators better understand the development of reading skills and recognize
 potential challenges early.</p>\n<p>Join us on Tuesday\, October 27\, 2026
\, from 5:30&ndash\;6:30 p.m. in the Storytelling Room. Registration is re
quired.</p>\n<p>About the Presenter<br />Sheri James holds a Master of Edu
