 </p>\n<hr />\n<p><em>About the author:</em></p>\n<p>Hailed by the <em>Wash
ington Post</em> as &ldquo\;the definition of perfection in the genre\,&rd
 quo\; <strong>Sara Paretsky</strong> is the <em>New York Times</em> bestse
lling author of numerous novels\, including the renowned V.I. Warshawski s
eries. She is one of only four living writers to have received both the Gr
and Master Award from the Mystery Writers of America and the Cartier Diamo
nd Dagger from the Crime Writers Association of Great Britain. She lives i
 n Chicago.<br /><br /><br />In <em><strong>Bad Company</strong></em>\, to
all appearances\, Lily Sedako is an unexceptional retiree - a seventy-some
thing single woman living in Chicago\, her days filled with the routine ta
sks of normal life. But underneath that exterior\, lies a remarkable past.
A former CIA field agent\, she spent her career in various Central Asian
countries\, but most notably in Hayalistan\, a former USSR territory. But
everything went sideways when Lily's connections to the mountain tribes re
sulted in her being moved to a new post and Rani\, the tribal leader and f
irst democratically elected President was removed\, presumed killed\, in a
coup back in 2002.<br /><br />All of this is long behind her when she rec
eives an anonymous package containing a magazine with an article about Hay
alistan - an article with a previously unknown photo showing Lily in the b
ackground. This was no mistake - someone out there is trying to expose Lil
 y\, after more than two decades\, for reasons unknown.<br /><br />Lily\, h
owever\, is no one's pawn even now. Determined to find out who is behind t
his\, how they obtained these forbidden photos\, and what their goal is be
fore she is a casualty in someone else's scheme.<br />Using hard won skill
s and personal connections from her former life\, Lily is determined to un
ravel the machinations going on now and what really happened back in Hayal
 istan more than twenty years ago.</p>\n<hr />\n<h3>FAQs<br /><br /></h3>\n
