ought kids and caring adults together at the Old Forge Library for somethi
ng simple and powerful: reading together.<br />Made possible through the g
enerous support of the Leola Tobin Memorial Fund\, this multigenerational
program pairs first-\, second-\, and third-grade students with adult volun
teers\, or &ldquo\;book buddies\,&rdquo\; for an hour of reading\, convers
 ation\, activities\, snacks\, and plenty of encouragement.</p>\n<p>The goa
l isn&rsquo\;t just to get through a book. It&rsquo\;s about helping kids
feel comfortable with reading\, build confidence\, connect with another me
mber of the community\, and have fun along the way. Each session includes
 shared reading\, learning activities\, coloring\, snacks\, and reading rew
ards.</p>\n<p>This fall\, Linking Lives Through Reading will meet for six
 Thursdays\,&nbsp\;October 1 through November 5\, from 2:15 to 3:15 pm.&nbs
p\;Six additional sessions will be offered in the&nbsp\; spring.</p>\n<p>T
he walk is part of it!&nbsp\;The Town of Webb Schools does not provide tra
nsportation to the library for this program. Instead\, library volunteers
and community members are welcome to join the walk from school to the libr
ary.<br />Anyone who would like to help walk the participating students fr
om school to the library is invited to join the group. It&rsquo\;s a simpl
e way to be part of the program and another opportunity for kids and commu
nity members to connect.</p>\n<p>Parents and caregivers should plan to pic
k up their children at the library at&nbsp\;3:15 pm.</p>\n<p>Become a book
buddy.&nbsp\;Linking Lives Through Reading is always looking for more adu
lt volunteers. No teaching experience is needed. Book buddies simply need
to be willing to spend an hour reading\, listening\, encouraging\, talking
 \, and sharing a little time with a child.<br />A favorite book\, a good c
onversation\, and an hour of attention can make a real difference.</p>\n<p
 >To register a child\, become an adult book buddy\, or join the walk from
school to the library\, call the&nbsp\;Old Forge Library at 315-369-6008&n
 bsp\;or email&nbsp\;oldforge@midyork.org.</p>\nhttps://midyork.libnet.info
