Gladys A. Barrio was born in Cuba\, raised in Puerto Rico\, and now resid es in Miami\, FL. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Mi ami and has authored over twenty-five scientific publications. Dr. Barrio served as Executive Director and Science Supervisor for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. She taught Chemistry and Methods of Teaching Science at va rious universities. A mother of two and grandmother of five\, she draws in spiration from family for her writing. Gladys&rsquo\; dream was to chronic le her parents' saga\, from the Spanish Civil War to the Cuban exile\, hig hlighting their quest for freedom and cherished values.
