This program is a hands-on craft workshop where you will create traditional tin punch ornaments using small hammers\ , nails\, and canning lids. The format will be guided but flexible\, begin ning with a brief introduction to the history of tin punching\, followed b y a demonstration of basic techniques such as pattern tracing and safe ham mering. You will then create your own design or follow a pattern and leave with a finished handmade ornament. The program also offers a relaxing\, t actile experience that supports mindfulness and creative expression.
\nTin punching has roots in multiple cultural traditions\, including earl y American colonial crafts (influenced by European metalworking traditions such as German and English folk art) and Mexican folk art (hojalata)\, wh ere punched tin is used for decorative and religious items.
