 nth</em> with <strong><em>Swann Queen</em></strong>\, a short film by <str
 ong>L cede&ntilde\;o miller</strong> inspired by the true story of <strong
 >William Dorsey Swann</strong> -&nbsp\; the world's first drag queen.</p>\
 n<p>Swann is the first person in recorded US history to consider themselve
 s a drag queen\, host drag balls in their home\, and fight for their right
 s as a queer person &ndash\; in late 1800s Washington\, DC.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p
 ><em><strong>Swann Queen</strong></em>\, starring DC drag legends <strong>
 Pussy Noir</strong> and <strong>King Molasses</strong>\, is a short fictio
 n film and historical reimagining of a night at a ball hosted by Billy Swa
 nn and their brother Dan. When the police raid the party\, Billy must deci
 de whether to run or resist.</p>\n<p>The night will also feature drag perf
 ormances by local artists <strong>Hennessey</strong> (who appears in the f
 ilm) and <strong>Mas</strong> (who made original music for the film)\; as 
 well as a trailer premiere of <strong>Black in Space&rsquo\;s</strong> upc
 oming film\,&nbsp\;<em>The Story of Space\,</em> and remarks from <em>Swan
 n Queen&rsquo\;s</em> director.&nbsp\;</p>\n<h4>About The Filmmaker</h4>\n
 <p>L cede&ntilde\;o miller (they/them) is an Afro-Nicarag&uuml\;ense filmm
 aker and cultural worker from Miami and based in Washington\, DC. As a pro
 ducer in both fiction and documentary\, they create visual altars and tell
  stories that would have made little L feel seen.</p>\n<p></p>\n<hr />\n<h
