About the pr esenter: \;Troi Madison Newman (she/her) is a Black-Indigenou s legal advocate and enrolled member of the Piscataway Conoy Tribe of Mary land. She recently completed a federal judicial clerkship with the U.S. Di strict Court\, District of Arizona.
\nTroi earned a B.S. from Frostb urg State University\, an M.P.S. from George Washington University\, and a J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law\, where she also compl eted the Indigenous Peoples Law &\; Policy Program (IPLP) certificate.< /p>\n
During law school\, Troi was recognized for her commitment to publ ic service\, serving as Western Regional Chair of the National Black Law S tudents Association (NBLSA) and Area 5 Representative for the National Nat ive American Law Students Association (NNALSA) during the 2024&ndash\;2025 term.
\nAs a public speaker\, Troi focuses on Indigenous representa tion and tribal sovereignty\, particularly for the Piscataway Conoy Tribe. She has spoken on the stewardship of unceded lands throughout the &ldquo\ ;DMV&rdquo\; region at institutions including Johns Hopkins University\, t he Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian\, George Washington University\, and the Maryland State Library.
