About the presenter: \;Troi Madison Newman (she/her) is a Bla ck-Indigenous legal advocate and enrolled member of the Piscataway Conoy T ribe of Maryland. She recently completed a federal judicial clerkship with the U.S. District Court\, District of Arizona.
\nTroi earned a B.S. from Frostburg State University\, an M.P.S. from George Washington Univer sity\, and a J.D. from the University of Arizona College of Law\, where sh e also completed the Indigenous Peoples Law &\; Policy Program (IPLP) c ertificate.
\nDuring law school\, Troi was recognized for her commit ment to public service\, serving as Western Regional Chair of the National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) and Area 5 Representative for the National Native American Law Students Association (NNALSA) during the 2024 &ndash\;2025 term.
\nAs a public speaker\, Troi focuses on Indigenou s representation and tribal sovereignty\, particularly for the Piscataway Conoy Tribe. She has spoken on the stewardship of unceded lands throughout the &ldquo\;DMV&rdquo\; region at institutions including Johns Hopkins Un iversity\, the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian\, George Washington University\, and the Maryland State Library.
\nOutside o f advocacy and public service\, Troi aspires to serve in the United States Congress and previously contributed as a content creator for the Harris&n dash\;Walz campaign
