Go behind the scenes with Eden Robinson as she discusses her writing journey and what it was like to watch her stori es make the leap from page to screen. She&rsquo\;ll talk about the excitin g process of turning her second book\, Monkey Beach\, into a movie\, and how< a href="https://www.reginalibrary.ca/search/3324780"> Son of a Trickster became a TV series on CBC and the CW.
\nEden will also talk about the path that led her to writing\, the people who encouraged her alo ng the way\, and why she chose to set so much of her work in her small hom e community. She&rsquo\;ll explore the mix of place\, family\, humour\, an d lived experience that gives her stories their unmistakable voice.
\n< p>Books will be available for purchase\, and a book signing will follo w the talk.\nEden Robin son is an award-winning Indigenous writer from Canada. She is a member of the Haisla and Heiltsuk First Nations. Eden is the author of the short story collection \;Traplines \;(1995). \;Trapline s \;won the Winifred Holtby Prize for best first work of fiction and w as a New York Times Notable Book. Her second book \;Monkey Beach \ ;(2000)\, a novel\, was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and th e Governor General&rsquo\;s Literary Award. \;Monkey Beach \;was a warded with the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize. Eden&rsquo\;s third novel\,&nb sp\;Blood Sports\, was published in 2006 and revisits characters from \;Traplines.
\nEden recently finished writing the Trickster-trilogy: \;Son of a Trickster \;(2017)\, \;Trickster Drift \;(2018 ) and\, \;Return of the Trickster \;(2021) all published by Knopf Canada. \;Son of a Trickster \;was shortlisted for the 2017 Scotia bank Giller Prize. Moreover\, \;Son of a Trickster \;was a finalis t of the 2020 edition of Canada Reads. \;Trickster Drift \;won the Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize in 2019.
\nIn addition\, Eden&rsquo\;s w ork has been adapted to the screen. \;Son of a Trickster \;is adap ted into a television series called \;Trickster \;and ran on CBC T elevision and the CW in 2020. Her novel\, \;Monkey Beach \;has bee n turned into a film of the same name. The film \;Monkey Beach \;i s directed by Loretta Todd and premiered at the 2020 Vancouver Internation al Film Festival in September 2020.
