The structure of a novel is one of the mos t important\, yet often overlooked\, elements new authors engage with when setting out to write a novel. Linear\, non-linear\, mixed media\, epistol ary forms&mdash\;there are so many ways to structure a novel. Plus\, a non -traditional structure can make the whole process a lot more fun. In this Novel Day presentation\, we'll discuss the plusses and pitfalls of differe nt novel structures from someone who has tried almost all of them. We'll l ook at examples and share tips for how to keep it all together. \;

\nStephanie Oakes is the aut hor of The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly\, which was a Morris Award f inalist\, The Arsonist\, which won the Washington State Book Awar d and was an ALA/YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults pick\, and her most r ecent novel\, The Meadows.
