Join us for the Opening Reception of R ecycled Dreams on Friday\, October 2 from 5:00&ndash\;6:30pm. This ex hibition \;will be on view from Friday\, October 2nd through Saturday\ , November 21st.
\nRecycled Dreams features mixed-media\, p hotography\, and graphic design works by Linda Greenwood and Alison Scott\ , exploring how discarded objects\, landscapes\, and everyday images can b e transformed into art.
\nFor Linda Greenwood\, this process grows f rom a lifelong love of art that began during childhood on Long Island\, Ne w York\, through frequent visits to museums in Manhattan with her mother. Her interest in photography and art has continued to develop through class es at the Sharon Art Center in Peterborough and the CALL Adult Education P rogram at Keene State College.
\nUsing her Photoshop skills\, Scott creates abstract works. &ldquo\;I&rsquo\;m quite curious about how each of us moves through the world\,&rdquo\; she says. Scott&rsquo\;s approach to art has been shaped by her experience at RISD\, where she discovered the intensity and rewards of sustained creative work. &ldquo\;RISD was a revel ation\,&rdquo\; she says. &ldquo\;I didn&rsquo\;t know anybody could work so hard\, let alone me.&rdquo\; She became interested in how immersion in the creative process could change the way she thought and worked. &ldquo\; When I immersed myself in my artwork\, it talked back to me. You can&rsquo \;t predict something like that.&rdquo\;
\nToday\, Scott embraces sp ontaneity as an essential part of her creative process. &ldquo\;Everything is improv. That&rsquo\;s my motto now\,&rdquo\; she says. &ldquo\;And lif e is a dance&mdash\;with stumbles.&rdquo\;
\nABOUT THE ARTIS TS:
\nLinda Greenwood moved to Peterboroug h in June of 1969. After her children were old enough\, she worked in publ ic relations for Yankee Magazine and then began to sell real estate\, befo re ending her career as the owner of two children&rsquo\;s clothing stores \, &ldquo\;The Rugged Bear&rdquo\; with her husband.
\nGreenwood has donated her artwork to many local fund-raising events by non-profit organ izations. Her artwork is exhibited at Norris Cotton Cancer Centers in Manc hester and Nashua and Healing with Art at Monadnock Community Hospital in the cancer treatment centers as part of their Healing with Art program.
\nShe served as President of the Monadnock Camera Club\, State Chairma n of the Exhibitions committee for Women&rsquo\;s Caucus for Art\, and is now chairman of the WCA Art Pod for the Monadnock Region.
\nAlison Scott attended Rhode Island School of Design\, where she d ove into printmaking\, painting\, nature drawing\, landscape architecture\ , industrial rendering\, clay slab building\, and house construction while majoring in Illustration and Graphic Design.
\nAfter graduating\, S cott designed publications for the University of Rhode Island\, before mov ing to NH and working as a freelance graphic designer. Her artwork has app eared in Smoky Quartz issues and is shown and sold in local towns. Scott h as lived in the Monadnock Region for 45+ years.
