X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Approximately a million people visit New J
ersey&rsquo\;s Island Beach State Park every year. &nbsp\;</p>\n<p>In addi
tion to almost ten miles of pristine beaches untouched by modern developme
nt\, a small community of shacks owned and constructed by fishermen and ou
tdoor enthusiasts lay hidden among the natural dunes.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>At on
 e time there were approximately one-hundred-nineteen shacks.&nbsp\; Some w
ere only the size of a small garage while others were comfortable vacation
homes.&nbsp\; With the exception of the &ldquo\;Judge&rsquo\;s Shack&rdqu
o\; which was placed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places\, they
have been torn down.</p>\n<p>These photographs share my experience and inc
lude shacks that are no longer standing and owners who are now deceased.</
