A Death Café\; is a welcoming community gathering where people&mdash\;often complete stranger s&mdash\;come together over tea and cake to have open\, honest conversatio ns about death. The purpose is simple: to increase awareness of death so w e can make the most of our finite lives.
\nA Death Café\; is n ot grief therapy\, counseling\, or a support group. It has no agenda\, no objectives to accomplish\, and no predetermined themes. Instead\, it is a participant-led discussion where everyone is invited to share\, listen\, a nd explore whatever arises in a safe\, respectful environment.
\nOve r the next 90 minutes\, stories are shared\, questions are explored\, pers pectives are broadened\, and meaningful connections are made. While tears are certainly welcome\, so is laughter. Participants often discover that t alking about death is not depressing&mdash\;it is deeply human\, surprisin gly life-affirming\, and often filled with moments of humor\, compassion\, and hope.
\nEvery Death Café\; reminds us that when we create space to talk about death without fear or judgment\, we also create space to live more intentionally\, love more deeply\, and build stronger\, more compassionate communities.

\nChristine Ruggiero \;is an End-of-L ife Doula\, \;deathcare educator\, and advocate dedicated to helping i ndividuals and families navigate \;the \;end-of-life experiences w ith compassion and confidence. She is the owner of Holding Space Las Vegas \, an end-of-life practice\, and currently serves as End-of-Life Director for the Doula Co-op of Nevada\, a nonprofit organization that educates\, s upports\, and advocates for birth and end-of-life doulas.
\nChristin e&rsquo\;s work is rooted in nearly two decades of supporting people throu gh life transitions as owner and organizer of Las Vegas Professional Organ izers\, serving seniors and clients facing significant change. In 2022\, s he earned certifications as a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and through Doulagivers as an Elder Care Doula\, Care Consultant\, and End-of-Life Dou la. She also spent nine years serving in various roles at SafeNest Domesti c Violence Agency.
