 n<p><a href="https://poemsandpaper.com/">Kayatta</a> is an American rapper
 \, poet\, producer and educator who grew up in the drug tattered streets o
 f West Oakland. Over the years she has developed into an all around talent
  who is not only skilled on stage but extremely effective in the classroom
 . Recently crowned best Hip Hop artist in Sonoma Kayatta continues to push
  the envelope socially\, creatively\, and dutifully. Effortlessly fusing p
 oetry with drums and bass to create sonic goodness that seethes with audac
 ious honey. She is one of one and a delightful treat to your ears\, especi
 ally if you are a hip-hop lover. Her sound is hers alone and rooted in tel
 ling a story that is authentic\, reflective\, black\, queer\, joyous\, eng
 aging\, and inspiring.</p>\n<p>Currently residing in Berkeley California K
 ayatta has found a refreshing way to utilize poetry that centers youth voi
 ces and impacts social and communal change. Her musical compositions are r
 elatable\, uplifting\, and thought provoking. &nbsp\;Not only is she extre
 mely gifted with words she has a keen sense to connect with the community 
 in a way that is healing and spiritual. This approach has resulted in a fa
 ithful community of fans who understand and resonate with the art she is c
 urating and delivering.</p>\n<p></p>\n<p>The Berkeley Public Library's&nbs
 p\;In the Stax&nbsp\;is collaborating with artist Derwin Deon Brown II\, f
 ounder of the Black American Sound System (B.A.S.S.) in bringing Black Ame
 rican music into the library.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>This partnership will feature
  a sound exhibit titled <em>The Break Room</em> with two activations calle
 d&nbsp\;<em>The People's Sonic Park</em> and <em>7th Street Cafe</em>&nbsp
 \;which will be on display at the Central Library's 2nd and 5th floor Sept
 ember-December 2026. This collaboration will also feature public programmi
 ng across all five of our locations where the community will be able to in
 teract with the exhibit\, learn the rich history and current scene of Blac
 k American music in the Bay Area as well as live music events and workshop
