 munity&mdash\;providing habitat for wildlife\, connecting neighborhoods to
  nature\, and carrying water through the heart of Central Ohio. But like m
 any urban waterways\, Alum Creek faces challenges that affect the health a
 nd diversity of the creek and the land along its banks.</p>\n<p>Learn why 
 invasive plants can disrupt ecosystems and how native plants support wildl
 ife\, protect soil\, and strengthen habitat. We&rsquo\;ll explore the heal
 th of the watershed and the role it plays in our local environment. You&rs
 quo\;ll learn about FACT (Friends of Alum Creek and Tributaries) and its w
 ork\, as well as Green Bexley&rsquo\;s Habitat Restoration initiative and 
 our partnership to remove invasive plants and restore native habitat. Most
  importantly\, we&rsquo\;ll share how community volunteers are making this
  work possible and how you can join us.</p>\n<p><strong>About the Speaker:
 </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Jerry Holloway</strong>&nbsp\;was born in San An
 tonio\, Texas to a career military family and grew up all over the United 
 States in different military bases. Holloway became environmentally concer
 ned while he was in the military assigned in Southeast Asia where he saw t
 he disastrous environmental effects of agent orange. Upon returning to the
  States\, Holloway went back to college in 1970 and experienced the very f
 irst Earth Day and made a commitment to work towards a better environment.
  He's been a Board member and volunteer with Friends of Alum Creek and Tri
 butaries (FACT) for 25 years. He has also represented FACT on the Central 
 Ohio Watershed Council for 2 years. Jerry is currently an instructor for c
 ommunity backyards conservation workshops for the Franklin Soil and Water 
 Conservation district and has been teaching classes for 7 years.</p>\nhttp
