ng>SOUL SEARCHER: Life and Legend of Chuck Brown</strong> is an introducti
on to the genius of Chuck Brown\, the "Godfather of Go-Go\," and his contr
ibution to hip-hop and pop culture. The book chronicles his musical life f
rom the first album\, "We the People" to his posthumous album\, "Beautiful
Life." It details Brown's influence on the early bands including Rare Ess
ence\, E.U.\, Trouble Funk\, and Junk Yard Band. It also documents the his
tory of fierce competition between D.C. bands in the 70's\, and DJ's who i
nspired Chuck Brown to create a transition beat that would ultimately prov
ide the space for the "go-go pocket." SOUL SEARCHER serves as a blueprint
for the study of one of the most important figures in Black music history
and notable legends of Washington\, D.C. including Frederick Douglass\, Ma
rvin Gaye\, Nannie Helen Burroughs\, Duke Ellington\, John Thompson\, and
 Mayor Marion Barry.</span><span style="color: #000000\;"></span></p>\n<h4>
