X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>The&nbsp\;Calvert Nature Society Presents&
 nbsp\;environmental lecture series is a year-long educational initiative d
esigned to engage Calvert County residents with accessible\, informative a
nd inspiring presentations on environmental topics relevant to Southern Ma
ryland. Each lecture is free and open to the public.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>In add
ition to lectures\, the series will showcase natural science research proj
ects and assessments in Southern Maryland &ndash\; especially the small gr
ant projects that CPNHT supports &ndash\; as well as other volunteer based
activities that contribute to the improvement of the environmental health
of our local ecosystem.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>The Calvert Marine Museum Educatio
n Department\, through the efforts of Alice Merkel\, was able to obtain a
grant from the Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust in order to create a Butt
erfly Waystation to support local pollinators and assist the Monarch Butte
rflies in their annual migration. By planting of native Milkweed Common pl
ants and other native plants\, it is our hope that this will create new op
portunities for educational interpretation to visitors to the site about t
he importance of pollinators to the greater Chesapeake Bay region.</p>\n<p
