X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>A place of quiet honor in the heart of Fay
etteville\, the historic National Cemetery dates to 1867 and serves as the
final resting place for veterans from the Civil War through modern confli
cts. Local historian JB Hogan will lead us through a short stroll of the r
olling hills\, mature hardwoods\, and rows of white marble headstones to h
onor our countries bravest.</p>\n<p>For the second part of the tour\, we w
ill step next door to one of Fayetteville's oldest burial grounds\, Oaks C
emetery. Oaks Cemetery served as the only area specifically set aside for
African American burials in the city. This site has remained an important
part of the local community as a record of the newly free generations that
survived the Civil War and their descendants in northwest Arkansas. Pleas
e join us in honoring some of our first citizens.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p>Please br
ing water\, wear comfortable shoes\, and meet us at the entrance on S. Lt.
Col Leroy Pond Ave.&nbsp\;</p>\n<p><em>For disability accommodations\, ca
