X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<p>Why are books challenged or banned? What&r
squo\;s the difference? Can this happen here? Is there anything we can do
about it? Maplewood Library&rsquo\;s Challenge Yours(h)elf Book Club will
investigate these questions and more &ndash\; all within the context of bo
oks that have been challenged or banned around the country. Some things ma
y surprise you\, some may not. Either way we promise lively and informativ
 e discussions each month!</p>\n<p>This month <strong>we&rsquo\;ll discuss
Stephen Chbosky's<em> The Perks of Being a Wallflower</em></strong>. The c
lub will be led by Amanda Eigen\, Maplewood Library Assistant Director and
Law for Librarians Certified Trainer.</p>\n<p>Chbosky's coming-of-age deb
ut young adult novel is often banned or challenged\, including in 2025 whe
n it was second on the American Library Association&rsquo\;s &ldquo\;Top 1
 0 Most Challenged Books&rdquo\; list.</p>\n<p>From the publisher:<em>The P
 erks of Being a Wallflower </em>is a "funny\, touching\, and haunting mode
rn classic"&nbsp\;that "takes a sometimes heartbreaking\, often hysterical
\, and always honest look at high school in all its glory."</p>\n<p>Click
