X-ALT-DESC;FMTTYPE=text/html:<h3>About the Program</h3>\n<p>Celebrate Blac
k History Month with an art program inspired by creativity\, resilience\,
and community. We&rsquo\;ll begin by reading <em>Stitchin' and Pullin': A
Gee's Bend Quilt</em>\, then learn about the remarkable story of the Gee's
Bend quilters from over five generations of women\, passed on from mother
to daughter\, grandmother to granddaughter\, aunt to niece.</p>\n<p>Since
the 1880s\, in the small town in Alabama known as Gee&rsquo\;s Bend or Bo
ykin\, in the south of the United States\, women from the Gee&rsquo\;s Ben
d community have practiced and passed down the art of quilting. The Gee's
Bend collective has featured work from over 120 quilters and represents an
  important contribution to African-American art.</p>\n<p>After the story\,
participants will create their own quilts made of paper\, inspired by the
patterns\, motifs\, and symbols of Gee's Bend quilts. This program is ope
n to people of all ages and abilities\, and everyone is encouraged to expl
ore their own style and ideas in a supportive\, welcoming space.</p>\n<p>E
