 irst-ever family author visit\, part of our Bexley Community Author Series
 \, as we welcome Caldecott Award-winning author and illustrator Jerry Pink
 ney to Bexley. Mr.&nbsp\;Pinkney's work spans children's literature\, comm
 emorative Postal Service stamps\, illustrations for&nbsp\;National Geograp
 hic\, and premier art exhibitions. He will share stories of his work as on
 e of our nation&rsquo\;s most awarded and prolific children&rsquo\;s book 
 authors\, illustrators\, and artists. Following his talk\, he will meet at
 tendees and sign books. Books will also be available for sale courtesy of 
 Gramercy Books.</p>\n<p><br /><strong>About Jerry Pinkney</strong><br />Je
 rry Pinkney is one of America&rsquo\;s most admired children&rsquo\;s book
  illustrators. He has won the Caldecott Medal and five Caldecott Honors\, 
 five Coretta Scott King Awards\, five&nbsp\;New York Times&nbsp\;Ten Best 
 Illustrated Awards\, the Coretta Scott King-Virginia Hamilton Award for Li
 fetime Achievement\, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award\, and the Society of I
 llustrators&rsquo\; Original Art Show Lifetime Achievement Award\, and man
 y other prizes and honors. Recently a member of the National Council of th
 e Arts and inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences\, he ha
 s also served on the U.S. Postal Service Citizens&rsquo\; Stamp Advisory C
 ommittee. His artwork has been exhibited in galleries and museums througho
 ut the country\, including the Art Institute of Chicago\, the Philadelphia
  Museum of Art\, the Schomburg Center\, and the Norman Rockwell Museum. Je
 rry Pinkney lives with his wife\, author Gloria Jean Pinkney\, in Westches
