This program consists of songs about women &rsquo\;s suffrage from as early as the mid-nineteenth century through 192 0. In addition\, the program includes songs from the nineteenth and twenti eth centuries about the role of women in society\, including songs about e qual work for equal pay\, reproductive rights\, and other relevant topics. It begins with &ldquo\;Winning the Vote\,&rdquo\; a humorous but pointed song written in 1912 as a conversation between men and women about women&r squo\;s suffrage\; and end with &ldquo\;Bread and Roses\,&rdquo\; the anth emic song of women workers based on a poem inspired by the 1912 Lawrence t extile strike. This is an entertaining and informative look at the fight f or women&rsquo\;s right to vote and the continuing fight for women&rsquo\; s rights.
\nPhil is one of few musicians not only to play the hammer ed dulcimer\, but also to sing while accompanying himself on the instrumen t. He performs frequently in the greater Chicago area and teaches individu al students and at workshops and music festivals. One of his favorite musi cal activities is getting together with friends for weekly old-time jams.< /p>\n
