 Professor of History at the University of Maryland. He holds a BA from the
  University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. from Harvard University. He has won m
 ore than a dozen teaching awards\, including the&nbsp\;2017 University Sys
 tem of Maryland Board of Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching\
 , the highest honor for teaching faculty in the Maryland state system. Bel
 l also has held major research fellowships at Yale\, Cambridge\, and the L
 ibrary of Congress and is the recipient of the National Endowment of the H
 umanities Public Scholar award. A frequent and dynamic speaker\, Bell is t
 he author of two books: <em><strong>We Shall Be No More: Suicide and Self-
 Government in the Newly United States</strong></em> and <em><strong>Stolen
 : Five Free Boys Kidnapped into Slavery and Their Astonishing Odyssey Home
 </strong></em>. <em>Stolen</em> was published in 2019.</p>\n<p><strong>Thi
