Ba seball did not originate in a cow pasture in Cooperstown\, New York. On Ju ne 19\, 1846 the first organized baseball game was played in Hoboken\, New Jersey. The New York Nine defeated the Knickerbockers by a score of 23 - 1. New Jersey has a rich history when it comes to baseball.
\nCurren tly five professional teams call the Garden State home: Trenton Thunder\, New Jersey Jackals\, Lakewood BlueClaws\, Sussex County Miners and the Som erset Patriots. Minor league teams have also played in Atlantic City\, Cam den and Newark. The Brooklyn Dodgers even called New Jersey home for a few games during the 1956 and 1957 seasons before moving on to Los Angeles. S everal great MLB players such as Joe Medwick\, Monte Irvin\, Rick Cerone\, Sean Doolittle\, and Mike Trout have called New Jersey home at one time.< /p>\n
